Believe it or not this mess was constructed in less the 20 minutes of cooking:) I turned around and had to document. Maybe I can learn to clean as I go.

I love Christmas! We had such a great time with family and friends. We celebrated a few days early with Codys parent. Cooper got very spoiled and loved all of his gifts. Then we head to UT. I decided to fly out a day early to get to my sisters bridal shower. Due to the 13'' of snow Cooper and I got suck in the airport for HOURS!! We didn't get to utah tell after 12:30am. The poor little baby was so tired but he was so good. The shower was so fun. We played lots of games and had a great vacation. The best part is my little sister got married (pics to come). The wedding was great, she was the most beautiful bride! Her husband Jordan fits right in with the family.

I just realized all of my pictures I have taken of Cooper these last few weeks are of him in his high chair. I think it is because this is the only time he is holding still:)

NINE MONTHS OLD!!! He is SO MUCH FUN!!! I cant believe how much I love have taking care of this little guy. The other day Cody mentioned how nice it will be when all of the kiddos we have will be raised and out of the house and I got really sad even got a little choked up thinking about it. He laughed and said don't worry it will be a very long time before that happens.

Here are a few of the thing I want to remember about 9 months...

-He is busy crawling everywhere, he really never stops unless he is sleeping

-He may think he is a dog:) I am constantly catching eating dog food and chewing on the dogs bones. I even catch my self telling him to sit and stay:)

-He is pointing and waving a lot.

-He LOVES girls:) My little YW class at church cant get enough of him and he loves every minute of the attention

-Down to two naps everyday. 10 and 3

-He is starting to get really silly and will do things just to make me laugh.

-He LOVE dogs! We currently have 3 dogs at our house and he chases them all day long

-This little boy can EAT!! He has a huge appetite. I am always amazed at how much food he puts away

-He is big too! He has not been weighed in a while but I'm sure he is at least 25lds. He is wearing his 12-18 month clothes

Christmas party

Once again I am horrible at taking pictures!! I even brought my camera to the party but left it in the car:( But what a fun Christmas party. It was for Codys work, he just signed on with a new company a couple of months ago and so I really didnt know anyone but it was still a lot of fun! We had the most AMAZING dinner, I am getting hungry just thinking about it! Here are a few pictures documenting the night.

Five days in AZ for Thanksgiving! It was so fun! We spent the holidays at Codys sisters house in Gilbert with his family. It was so fun, I now want to move to there. The week was full of lots of eating, shopping, games, football, hiking, dog walking and hanging out. Its always a good time when we get together. It was a great trip, we cant wait to go back!

Coop did awesome on the plane rides. He even took a little nap!

I really really doubt that this is a comfortable position to sleep! The first time I found him like this I figured he just couldn't figure out how to lay down and he ended up falling asleep like that. But that was a month ago and he continues to fall asleep like this A LOT! Lets hope he grows out of it:)

Our little Cooper is 8 months old tomorrow!! There has been a lot of change this month, I feel like he is no longer baby anymore. He is so independent and wants to explore everything!

Some things I want to remember...

- He got his first tooth this month! Actually 2 of them popped through. I am not a fan of the hole teething baby thing. He will be SO fussy the day before a tooth pops through and the next day when I see the tooth it all makes sense.

-HE IS CRAwLING!! Everywhere!! It is so fun to see him cruisin around the house. He is a curious little guy and he is supper fast too. I now understand the phrase "baby proffing" your house a hole lote better:)

-He is down to 2 naps!! Halelujah. I thought he would never be down to 2 naps. I love it! He is a lot better at being able to stay up longer too. Before if he was tired watch out! I needed to find a crib fast! Now he is a lot easier to distract, give him a new toy or hold him and I can distract him. It makes church so much better!

-Our new game is to blow raspberrys at each other. He does this by putting his bottom lip over his top and blowing. It is so cute! He does it all the time and then laughs after he does it:)
-sorry this is probably TMI but he is now a pooping machine! He use to poop seriously once every two weeks! It was great. Now sense he is eating solid he is going 3-4 times a day! I have to buy so many more diapers.
-This little boy can EAT!! I am always so suprised at how much he will eat. He is definately not a picky eater.

Im loving this age!! LOVE you Coop!

Halloween

We are pretty lame when it comes to halloween costumes, I think Cody and I have use this costume 3 years in a row:) But we have been in three different wards so it has worked out. And this year we added a "football" to the costume aka Cooper! It was a great halloween!

I love conference!! I'm amazed at how at each conference session I listen to there is always a talk that has been written just for me! :) After having Cooper there have been a few hard days where I think, this is it! Cooper is going to be an only child:)

I am grateful for talks like Brother Anderson gives to remind me that this is why I am here and this is what Gods wants me to be doing! I will need to frame this quote to remind me when the next hard day comes:)

Fall Hike

I love FALL!! It so pretty. We went hiking over the weekend in Fort Collins. It was perfect weather and so pretty. Coop did awesome, he even took a little nap on the hike. I do feel kind of bad that Cody had to pack him along the hole time, it wasn't the easiest hike and Mr Coop is at least 23lds. But then again I carried him 24/7 for 9 months, so I only feel a little bad:)

We even saw a deer hanging out in the shrubs. He just laid there and stared at us. I think he thought we couldn't see him. I love seeing wildlife.

7 Months old

This little man is 7 months old!! I cant believe it. I feel bad I skipped his 6 monther update so I will try and combined it with this one.

Things to remember through months 5 and 6...

-Cooper is now sitting up all by himself!

-He is rolling over like a pro and will get to the other side of the room by rolling

-his first little tooth just popped through yesterday

-he had his first cold last week, not very fun at all

-he is eating solids now! He is a good little eater. I have read that most kids will stop eating when they are full but not Cooper. He just keeps eating!!

-He is a good little sleeper still, that being said he has now stop falling asleep in my arms so church is a fun one!

-he is SO CLOSE to crawling, I think in a few weeks he will be a little mover

-he has the cutest little giggle and is supper ticklish on his belly and under his neck

-this little boy has had 4 hair cuts! These are cuts not trims! His hair grows so fast

-his favorite toy is my wallet and lip gloss

-the radio static still puts him to sleep so if he ever wakes up at night the radio goes on and back to sleep he goes

-he is still super big, at his 6 month apt he was 98th percentile for height and 87 for weight.

- his nick name is still peanut, it has been sense I was pregnant.

We love this little boy! Here are a few pics from the other night. He has food all over his face and his clothes look a little to small. He still looks super cute I think.

Utah Trip

Do you know what happens when you wait to long to do a post. I forget what we did! I went to Utah a month or so ago and its hard to remember what we did. Ill do my best.

I dared to do this trip with out my husband. He had to work and I really wanted to see my family so Coop and I went anyway. It was so fun. I was able to stay at my sisters house for a few days, it was fun to see how life is with four kiddos. In the evenings as soon as we got the babies to bed, say 7:00 we went shopping!! Loved it! There is just something great about going shopping with my family, you can always find the best deals and the cutest clothes when we are together.

We put all the kids in the fan and headed to my parents house in Utah, it was fun. It seemed like if her baby was happy then mine was screaming or vice versa:) Fillmore was fabulous! We got to play lots, eat great food, go to the apple fest, pick and make apple juice, and the boys got to go to the BYU game.

Harvest

I would have to say the best part of gardening is harvest time! This year I planted WAY to much again! I really thought I was just planting a little, the seeds are just so tiny when you first plant them its hard to think that in 2 months that there will be hundreds of veggies everywhere. We had enough cucumbers to feed the hole town, lots and lots of tomatoes. I made 32 cups of spaghetti sauce with them. The carrots were delicious and spinach made me a green smoothie almost everyday for most of the summer.

This is what happens when you send your husband our to pick some carrots. He pick most of the carrots that weren't ready:) Then when he got to the big one he thought OH I think these where the ones I was suppose to pick:) Oh will they probably needed a little thinning anyways.

I finally got to meet Claudia! Cody met her and her family on his mission in Chile 7 years ago. They have kept in touch ever sense. She is so sweet, I felt like I was meeting someone of the family, like an aunt or cousin. We ate lots of food and played with baby Cooper. She brought Cooper the CUTEST hat and shirt, Cody his favorite candy and chocolate for me. I hope one day we can travel to Chile and come to her house next time.

Cooper had his first taste of food!! He had plain yogart. He was pretty sceptical of if and made a funny faces every time he had a bite but just kept eating it. He has now had spinach, avacado, brown rice and sweet potatoe. He still makes funny faces when he eats and gags because of the texture. He is so fun!!

I am long over due for an update. Our computer is out if room to upload photos, so it feels weird doing updates w/o pictures. There will be a hole bundle of posts if when we get our new computer!

Here is a little update on what we have been up to....

Cody is still working as a financial rep and working so hard. It is not an easy job that comes with a lot of stress but he is so good! He is such a hard worker and really loves what he does. Im glad he is smart and knows what to do with money because if it was up to me I would have a checking account and savings account and thats all:)

Our ward boundries changed and we got put into a new ward. I am a little sad to leave our ward but Im sure I will make friends in the new ward. And Ive already spotted some younger couples that should be our friends:) Cody got put in as a sunday school teacher for the youth and I got put back in the YW presidency. I wouldnt know what to do if they put me anywhere else:)

Im a still doing hair and I absolutely LOVE working from home. Im doing about 2 -3 clients a day and staying very busy with it. Its a perfect balance for me to stay busy and not get to stir crazy staying home all day.

(Here is my venting session) My body is falling apart! This week I found out I need glasses I cant see. Found out my back is very messed up and will need a lot of work done to fix it. Found out my jaw is crucked and I need braced (again) for two years to fix it:) FUN... Oh well hopefully I get it all fixed when im young and wont need anything else done when Im older.

Cooper is doing great!! We love being parents! I cant believe how smart he is getting. It seems like he learns a new trick every day.

Cody and I had our first experience calling 911 last week.

We were both fast asleep at 3am and got woken up to what I thought was a fire alarm. We both hopped out of bed and it stopped. It was definitely was going off but there was no fire. Then I realized it wasn't the fire alarm but the carbon monoxide detector. We figured it was no big deal sense it only went off for a minute and decided to go back to bed. But as I was laying there I had a bad feeling. I made Cody call the fire department and ask them what we should do. They asked a few questions and when they found out we had a little baby, they really thought it was best to come check the house out to make sure we didn't have a gas leak. So they asked us to hang up and call 911. We had to evacuate the house until the fire department came. Cooper was so good:) he just sat on my lap. He loved all the firemen, he even got a cute little stuffed animal. Anyways everything checked out fine, no gas leak. They left and we went back to bed. It was easier to sleep knowing we were safe. Coop was an angel, I put him back in bed and he went right to sleep. Such a good baby!

Then the next night the fire alarm went off at 1 am. We did not call the fire department. I went straight back to bed:) I hope this doesn't become a regular thing...

5 month update

I was going to skip the 5 month update because I thought who ever is reading my blog is probably getting tired of hearing all about Cooper. But then I remembered why I am doing a blog is for Cody and I to look back on what we were doing. So im sorry if my post are getting a little boring, I will try and spice it up, we have a few trip planned so there will be something new to post about in a few weeks!

Here are some pictures Cody took of Coop...

Cooper LOVES his feet!! He will play with them all day. He even sucks on his little toes:)

We went to the mall last week and forgot the stroller and Coop is one heavy kid. Cody ended up carrying him like a sack of potatoes over his shoulder. Coop loved it!

Our little man is 5 months old!! I cant believe how big and smart he is getting. I am loving this age right now. Cooper is so much fun to be around. Some things I want to remember about this month are...

-He is getting so good at using his hands. It was like one day he woke up and realized "hey I can use these things and grad those toys." Each day he gets more and more coordinated.

-Rolling over! He finally did it. He can roll over both ways now. I was really working with him on rolling over from back to tummy and one day he just did it all by himself. He does it all the time now, one minute he will be on his back the next I will look over and he will be on his tummy.

-He is SO SMILEY!! He will smile at anyone and everyone. This is one of my favorite things about Cooper. I just love his smile!!

-His hair is CRAZY!! I get comments everywhere I go. It sticks straight up no matter what you do just like Codys.

-This month has been really busy with hair for me. I am taking clients Mon-Sat instead of just Thursday and Saturday and Coop has been so good with watching me do hair all day. And my client love to play with him. I enjoy being busier.

-He is nursing every 3-4 hours during the day and taking three 2 hour naps. He is going to bed and 7:30pm and waking up at 8am. And sleeps through "most nights"

-He is getting way distracted while eating. Most of the time he will nurse for a minute get bored and smile and talk then go back to nursing. I hope this is just a phase.

-He had his first "food". Rice Cereal YUM! He hatted it and it made him so gassy and uncomfortable. So we stopped and I decided to wait tell he was 6 months and go straight to veggies and skip cereal all together, I think....:)

-Cooper LOVES Cody!! Cody is such a great dad. He really is a natural. He has been watching Cooper a lot lately when I doing hair or doing YW stuff.

I need to know is anyone else out there like me??

I am constantly burning myself. I really am a smart person but I think there something wrong with me, I constantly am burning myself in the kitchen. When I put my fingers in the almost boiling water to see if its hot enough or touch a cookie sheet that just came out of the oven, grade a noodle out of boiling water:) touch a curling iron to see if its warmed up. Cody now just laughs when these things happen.

Does anyone else do this or am I the only one:)

Coop is to funny! He loves to have his feet up like they are in the picture. He does this in the stroller, high chair and even when he is just laying on the ground he has his legs in the air. He is so funny!

Cody turn the big "29" this year!!! He only has one more year until he is in the thirties and in my opinion 30 is getting old:)

For his birthday he wanted to go to the sod farm and shoot prairie dogs and drink koolaid. Then later that evening we got a babysitter and Cody and went out for sushi! I hope he had a great birthday because he deserves it. Love you Cody! And enjoy your last year of being young!!

I'm just wondering where my little newborn went, Cooper is growing up so fast!! He is now 4 MONTHS OLD! He is getting so big and smart. Some things I want to remember this month...

- he is so smiley! He smiles all the time. People always comment on how happy he is.

- he started laughing. The first time he laughed at me is when I was eating lunch and he was sitting in his bumboo next to me. I stuck out my tongue and showed him me food in my mouth. He thought it was the funniest thing ever:) I did it over and over just so I could hear his little giggles.

- he looks just like Cody! This little boy at church says, " oh my heck! He looks just like your husband!" I think its the crazy hair.

- he is really good in the car. He just looks out the window. He will nap in the car but we found out on the drive to Utah the he wont sleep for more that 45 min at a time.

-he is super mellow. I really dont have to do anything for him. He is super happy just watching be clean the house, cook dinner and play on the computer. Im sure this will change one day but ill take it while I can get it.

-he is rolling over from his tummy to his back now! I was so excited to see this.

- he is so funny, when he was a newborn I was reading a bunch of books on helping your baby sleep. One author said that a vacuum will put your baby to sleep. Well one night I gave it a try and sure enough it worked perfect. He went right to sleep. We only used this if he cried more than a few minutes after putting him down. Anyways our vacuum started to wear down so I tried the radio static and sure enough this work as well. I LOVE IT! We really don't use it often only if he wakes up early from a nap to put him back to sleep in the middle of the night if he wakes up, the radio goes on and he goes right back to sleep. Its like magic!!

- no more swaddle!! Yeah, I was super nervous to stop swaddling him and one day I just decide not to do it and what happened? He slept better that ever! I'm so glad!

-he is BIG! He weighs 18.3 lbs and is 27 inches long. And he has lots and lots of rolls:)

-all though he is very happy when he is awake he definatley will let you know if he is tired. He turns into a very grumpy little baby. And I am very quick to put him down for a nap before it gets to late:)

-he is also very strong, he loves to stand on his legs

-our schedule is much much better than last month. Are day now looks like this. Goes to bed at 7:30 wakes up at 8:00 and has 3 naps during the day. Sometime a catnap in the evening if he is grumpy.

-he also started sleeping through the night and will sometime wake up at 5am to eat but usually makes it to 7.

It is so fun to be Coopers mom!! My only complaint lately is that I'm a little bored. I'm not use to staying home. My hole life I have either worked or gone to school. But I really am enjoying the freedom and free time to do whatever I want.

Life if good!!

~4th of July week~

I love Utah trips!! It is always so much fun. I got to stay for 10 days! Cody and I left Thursday night after he got off work. We figured Coop would just sleep the hole way. WRONG.... He was awake a lot of the ride. Oh well, next time we will know better than to leave at night.

The week was full of BBQ, family, friends, fireworks, movies, painting, zumba, walks and eating. Coop and I stayed at my parents house while Cody went home to work. My parents got to spend so much time with Cooper and I was able to get a little break and spend some time with friends and play for a bit. I had a great time, it was sad to say goodbye.

Here is what Cody said this morning that still has me laughing...

Cooper had a MAJOR explosion in his diaper this morning! I mean HUGE, he was sitting in his bumboo and when I picked him up it was everywhere. I was laughing so hard. I called Cody to come and take a look. His words were "HOLY COW! Where did all the poop come from. When people said there kids had explosions I was thinking maybe a little poop up there back not all up their back, down there legs, everywhere! That is disgusting.

Im not quite sure if I can say I have a green thumb, I just plant things and hope they grow:) This year I have tomatoes, strawberry's, raspberry's, spinach, pees, cucumbers, cilantro, carrots and cantaloupe. My goal for this summer is to learn how to can and preserve some of it. I love gardening and seeing my little veggies grow!

I never ever thought I would ever eat poop!! Well it happened, I ate poop. I know GROSS! Here's how it happened...

Cody, Cooper and myself went out to ice cream with some friends. I was happily eating my ice cream and noticed I had peanut butter on my fingers. There wasn't a napkin around so I just thought I would lick it off. Well lets just say that it tasted NOTHING like peanut butter. I was confused at first thinking what else could it be?... I lifted Coop off my lap and check to see if he had pooped. Sure enough he had a massive explosion and poop was spilling down his leg. Then it hit me! I had just eaten POOP!! Cody and our friends where dying,, they could not stop laughing. I thought it was pretty funny to, but on the way home it really started to gross me out. My stomach was starting to hurt just thinking about how gross that was.

Cody was laughing and said," well ate least when you say that tastes like poop, you will really know what you are talking about:)"

Lesson learned, never lick my fingers again!!

3 months old

Wow, I cant believe 3 months has gone by. I feel like we just brought Cooper home from the hospital 2 weeks ago. Time is flying by, he is growing up so fast!!

I never understood why parents always say kids grow up so fast but I really understand now. It needs to slow down!! I'm afraid I'm going to wake up one morning and realize he is 2 years old and wonder where my baby went:) But then there are the days where I catch myself wishing he would be older so I can sleep all night with out having to feed a baby, or where he doesn't have to take so many naps so I can leave the house for longer than an hour. I catch myself and try to remind myself in a few years I will probably be wishing he would nap and wishing I could hold and cuddle with him at night.

I cant believe how much he has learned and grown in 3 short months. Here are some things I want to remember about Mr. Coop....

*He loves to talk! Recently I will put him in his crib for a nap and he will babble and babble right up to the second he falls asleep.

*He is still sleeping a lot. Are day usually goes like this

7:30 Wake up, eat

8:30 nap

10:00 Wake up, eat

11:00 nap

12:00 Wake up and eat

1:00 nap

2:00 Wakes up and eats

3:00 nap

4:00 Wake up and eat

5:00 nap

5:45 wake up eat get ready for bed

7:30 BEDtime...

And the next day it starts all over again!!

* I was complaining on day that I wish he would just take 2 really big naps rather than all these small ones through out the day and the next day he would not nap! He was up from 12-6 with no sleeping, he was a beast!! Not happy at all and I could not get him so fall asleep. So I will never complain about short naps, I will take them. He is so alert and happy when he is awake and as soon as he has been awake for and hour or so he is ready to sleep, and he lets me know it. One minutes he is happy little boy next minute he is screaming little baby!

*He is getting to big!! he is weighting 16lbs!! and wearing his 6 month old clothes.

*He is super strong! He is holding his head up like a pro, he is wanting to stand all the time too.

* He hasn't rolled over yet, well not in fort of me. My mother in law was watching him the other night and said he rolled over twice. It was kind of bitter sweat, I was super happy to hear that he rolled over, but sad I missed it. Then Ed said he may have been on a slight hill and his hand was under him. So I'm not counting it:) And he hasn't done it sense, I think it was gravity!

*He is always smiling! He has the cutest faces he pulls, he will wrinkle his nose and kick his feet when he gets really exited.

*Night sleep...well he use to be doing really good. He would wake up once around 4 or 5am to eat. I was feeling really good and thinking he was going to make it all night long one of these days. Then out of nowhere he is waking up every 2-3 hours all week!! I'm exhausted and praying so hard that this is just his 3 month growth spurt and it will all go back to normal. I really hope so, I get really crazy w/o my sleep.

*I love to watch him sleep. My favorite part of the day is when I go to bed, I will go nurse Cooper one more time. He is asleep when I do this. I just pick him up and he nurses while he sleeps pretty much. I love it. He is so peaceful

I could go on and on. I just love him so much. Its fun to be his mom. I cant wait to see what the next 3 months bring us...

This weekend we did our first hike of the year with Baby Cooper. It was great! The weather was perfect, and the hike was so pretty. I love hiking. Cody did great carrying Cooper, when we first started he started complaining that his back hurt. I told him try carrying him every day for 9 months:)

I hope we can figure out how to go camping with a baby this summer. We may just have to barrow and RV, or if I can talk Cody into buying one. I think it would be a great purchase. He just laughs whenever I bring up that we should buy one.

I really cant believe Cody and I have been married for another year! This anniversary was #3, I feel like some how we skipped #2. Life is going by really fast.

We had a wonderful date night (w/o baby cooper) to celibrate starting with SUSHI for dinner (our favorite), walked around and shopped in a few stores, got some ice cream at spooners! It was so good, came home and cuddled under a blanket while watching the fire works.

The other night I stayed up talking to Cody about people that offended me or bug me during the day. After a long discussion I realized I was looking at all the "bad" qualities of these people and not their good qualities.

We all have things we need to improve on, we can find them in everyone. My new goal is to only look at the good in people.

Here is one of my favorite quotes I'm going to read every morning to remind me,

Memorial Day Weekend

We just had a great Memorial Day weekend! Cooper was blessed so we had both Codys family and my family (minus Jake and Kaci) come down. The blessing day was PERFECT!! Cody did such a good job with the blessing, the spirit was so strong. We waited a little longer than most people do to bless their babies because this was when everyone was going to be in CO. It worked out perfect.

Over the weekend we did so much! Starting with birthday breakfast, staying up and playing games, blessing Cooper, family bbq, watching movies, playing with the kids and shopping!

2 Months Old!!

Mr. Cooper is 2 months old today, I cant believe how fast time is going by. He is such a sweet little boy, I love that I get to be his mama!

Things to remember...

* He is now weighing 13.5 lbs! He is getting so chunky, I love it!

* He is almost 25'' long, which is tall for his age.

* He is smiling all the time! My favorite is when he wakes up from his naps and I go in his room, he always flashes me the biggest smile, like he is so exited to see me:)

*He is getting very strong. He holds his head up so well.

* He will take a bottle from Cody! I love this because I always worried when I left Cooper, wondering if he needed to eat. Now I can leave and not worry cuz if he needs to eat he will take the bottle. Wonderful!

* He is becoming a GREAT sleeper! He goes to bed at 7:30pm and wakes up at 7:00am and eats usually once at night! And he takes great naps.Usually 3x1.5 and 45min cat nap in the evening.

* He loves to sleep in his crib! Not so much anywhere else. I think I am to blame for this one. But he really only sleeps when he is swabbled and laid down. This makes church super hard because he will not sleep more than 5 minutes in his car seat or in my arms.

I have started doing projects around the house now that I get to stay home all day, and Cooper is napping most of the day. Today I redid the chairs in the kitchen. I got the fabric for $5.00. I love the way they turned out. It took about 20 minutes to do each stool.

My six weeks is over and I have begun the work outs to try and toon up my body. I didnt really gain a lot of weight, but all my muscles are weak! and I about through up over 20 minutes of cardio. I dont get to go to the gym every day now that I have a kiddo to look after, so I need some work outs I can do at home. I started this video last week and love it but I need more. Any videos that you guys use and like let me know.

Cooper gets swaddled for his naps and at nights and he is sleeping about 16 hours a day! So he is swaddled a lot! He loves it too. I always have to say baby burrito when he is all swaddled up:)

He has been breaking out of the swaddle, so we have moved to double swaddling, which I think is impossible to break out of.

Uncle Shane and Aunt Alyssa!!! We got to stay at their house the night before the wedding. I went to bed early with Cooper knowing that I would be waking up every 3 hours to nurse. Cody stayed up hangin out with Shane and came to bed at 2:30. Cooper was having some bad gas and could not go back to sleep around 3:00 and I was to tired to stay up with him, so poor Cody got to and didnt get to bed tell about 5:00. So he was TIRED for the day of the wedding. Poor guy.

Driving to utah use to take us 8 hours max in the past. This trip took us about 11 hours! Stopping to nurse Cooper every 3 hours and diaper changes. Cody is the best at those:) I even attempted to feed Cooper while he was still bucked in hi car seat so we could save time. Didnt work... And im sure whoever we might have driven by did not want to see that sight, so we just pulled over:)

So I'm going to start off by saying, I am horrible at taking pictures! I didn't even get any with my brother on his wedding day! My new goal is to take LOTS of pictures.

Anyways the trip was SO GOOD!! I was worried about going because Cooper is so young and I didn't know where he would nap or how he would do in the car. Well he did great! It was so fun to see all my family and celebrate Jake's big day! The wedding was wonderful, I cried the entire ceremony. We crammed a lot of things into 3 days. It was go go go the hole time. I love Utah, it always feels so good to be back.

I have a few blogs that I follow, and I found this post from a mom of four kids. I love it! I thought I would post it on hear so I can reread it in the future...

"As you can probably guess, the answer to “What changes when I have a baby?” is… everything!

But seriously, just because everything changes doesn’t mean that it is all scary or all bad. Becoming a mother has been the destiny of a majority of women since time began. Many good things come from becoming a mother, including the enlargement of your heart. Where all your detail orientation and concern used to produce perfect hair, stylish decor, and a together attitude, now it will all be focused on this wrinkly little stranger whose destiny you have NO idea how to shape. If you can imagine shifting your time, body, activities, budget, and philosophy from your own life to someone else’s, 24/7, you can pretty much achieve what it is going to be like being a mom.

I am a firm believer that this cognitive and emotional adjustment is the number one change most new moms have to make. Nothing prepares you for this shift from Self to Other. I didn’t even know it was possible! Of course I still think about myself as a mother—and now that I have four children, I have had more practice “carving” out some self in the midst of life with little children—but the inner workings of my mind are completely different. So are my fears, my priorities, and my deep motivations.

The externals or physical aspects of mothers are not to be downplayed, of course. Starting from day one that you are pregnant, your body is no longer your own. It is taken over by a small, pink, tender, but hostile little planet. And you will be largely responsible for how that little life emerges. You don’t feel the way you want, you don’t look the way you want, and you probably can’t eat exactly the way you want. You also don’t sleep the way you want, make love the way you want, or do any other physical thing exactly the same way. This seems to be God’s way of initiating the pregnant mother into motherhood… the first test of shifting from Self to Other orientation.

Then the baby is born and you have all heard of the trials there, so I won’t belabor them. Suffice it to say the birth and delivery is a wonderful but physically demanding event, for which recovery must be taken seriously for your body to not rear its ugly head. Then there is the exhaust factor of the crying, feeding, staying up at night, and generally not being able to figure out what your baby wants. If you are breastfeeding for the first time, sometimes this is a difficult transition and you can be found with a boob hanging out in plain view for pretty much the first three months straight! The house still needs cleaning, the food still needs preparing, the errands still need to be done, the paperwork needs to be taken care of, and life still goes on… but you have to manage how to do it AND tote the baby!

But assuming you make it through the physical marathon of the first six weeks, you will probably start feeling the emotional adjustment more keenly. At some point, it will kick in that not only are you IN CHARGE of this precious little life, but YOU yourself must nurture this little life for the next 18+ years! A huge slice of what used to be independent decisions are no longer independent anymore because they affect the baby. And you must start confronting both the ups and the downs of parenting. Starting with the ever-present question: “What is my baby trying to tell me?” questions you feel like you are not prepared, equipped, or able to answer start flooding your brain every moment. It is hard to ignore those questions and voices, “Am I doing everything right?” “What if I cause a problem here?” “Is this fixable?” “Will anyone help me?” Going to sleep is sort of your only respite.

But the good news is that even these tormenting questions have an ultimately good purpose: they motivate you to engage your child, reach out to others, and make the best of it. If you can muster up enough confidence to just dive into life with baby and be ok with who you are, what you can do, and the resources you have… you will win!! Don’t give into the nagging insecurities, identity crises, or perceived losses. This is one game you must trust in yourself to get off Square One.

And don’t forget you are not alone. Not only do you have friends and neighbors who are all like you, engaged in this amazing drama, but you have a personal partner: your husband. Your husband is a hand-picked friend for you to confide in, consort with, and find comfort. If he wasn’t in the past, you better start making him now! You can’t do this alone, and your husband needs to be included in the parent game. In some sense, he is more able to handle the sometimes crushing emotions than you are because he is not as enmeshed in the toils of everyday life with baby. So don’t resent him for this or blame him… seek his help but make friends with his rationality. Sometimes it is the main life line being sent to you.

And for goodness’ sake, continue to be glass is half full! You have this little baby! It’s going to work out! You’re not going to mess up in any new ways that mothers haven’t already! You love it! It will love you!

And there are SOO many blessings that will start rolling in as your child develops and becomes your own that you have to focus on those things. Don’t miss them.

Do find a time/place for yourself, to keep something going that you alone love, and that will help. Draw those boundaries, get a shower every time you need it (hah! I’m not kidding!), and lower your expectations of what you need to get done each day. There is a reason why “families” are an institution that you can recognize with playgrounds that clutter the yard, toys which clutter the basement, and laundry which is never done… because this is what raising a family entails! People sacrifice the same things for a reason, so don’t be ashamed if some of those “That will NEVER be me” things become you. You are not the old you. You are a new you. If you can embrace this, no matter what, you will be just fine"

Does anyone want a dog!:) JK, but I am quite fed up with Boone right now. I dont seem to be as patient with his barking and constant need for attention. But he loves the baby which is a good thing but he really really likes the baby. He always want to be right next to him, sniffing and trying to lick him. When the baby is napping I catch him going in there and checking on him.

First bath

So this is actually the 2nd bath the first time he HATED it, I gave it to him when Cody was working and Cooper hated it! He was so scared. So for the next bath I had Cody help me so we could hold Coopers arm had legs so he felt more secure. It worked! He really like his baths now, he is a little concerned when he first touches the water but after he gets use to it he really likes it:)

But tonight as I was singing him "I am a Child of God" right before putting him to bed he gave the biggest smile ever. I cant believe how one little smile can make me feel so loved!!

2 week update

I thought I would do a quick post to update you on our little family. And I'm sorry there aren't any pictures. I'm to lazy to download them but I will post some soon.

Life is really good! We are just loving little Cooper. He is a really good baby and we are getting a pretty good routine going.

The first three days after he was born was HARD!! I seriously thought I may not be able to do it:) I was so excused from the labor and I was to worked up to sleep when Cooper was sleeping, thinking he might need me any second or what if he cant breath. I couldn't relax. On the way home from the hospital I told Cody this will be our only child:) I have now taken that comment back.

Days 4-10 where a lot better. My mom was here and help out a lot. I was still pretty tired and trying to get use to everything

Days 11-14 have been really really good. We have a pretty consistent routine going on. I am able to relax and just enjoy being a mom. He is so precious.

Some things to remember about these past two weeks....

*Cooper has been nursing like a champ!! He has gained all his weight plus 4 oz.

* He smells so good!

* When he is awake he is so calm and content. He will just look all around the room, checking out the world.

* He love to suck!!! I will nurse him for a good 30 min and he is so full but he still wants to suck. He sucks on his fingers, clothes, anything he can get in his mouth.

* The spirit is so strong with him in our home. I love it!

* He knows the sound of Codys and my voice. He will turn his head and look when we talk to him.

* He is a good sleeper! He is waking up once in the middle of the night for a feeding and I put him right back to bed. He will wake up if he is poopy too. Cody has been getting up for those.

* Cody is so good with him!! It just melts my heart to see him being a Dad. He know exactly what to do. He is a natural.

He has arrived! Our sweet little boy came to us on March 17, 2011!! He is perfect. We are loving being parents. Labor started wednesday night with my water breaking and I had him 23 hours later. The Proposal!

Last week my friend Natalie did a post on her engagement. It was so cute, it made me go back and read my journal entry of when Cody proposed. I realized that it was just 3 years ago. I thought it would be fun to put it in my blog for our kids to see when they're older.

Here is my journal entry on March 2, 2008

I'M ENGAGED!! It happened on Feb 28. Here is how he did it. My mom had just came to town to take me home. I have been really sick. Cody called and said to stop by his house he had a surprise for me. He was in class but he left the door unlock. So my mom dropped me off at his house and said she would wait in the car.(Later finding out she was in on it too).

I walked to the front door and there was a poem taped to it saying,

"Enter here, Kara my dear and you shall see just how special you are to me.

Well go for a life long ride and Ill always be by your side.

So be not afraid, for Ill always be at you aid

So just open the door and follow the candle lit trail

To the beginning of your magical fairy tale!"

By this time I had major butterfly's. So I opened the front door like the note said and when I walked in all the lights were off and there where candles and rose peddles that I followed into this room. When I got to the room there was a big vase of beautiful roses and a note that said,"I love you, turn around." I turned around and there Cody was standing.( dressed in all black) I think he said Kara I'm in love with you! Will you spend the rest of your life with me?

I was so exited that I had to go down on my knees too lol and I just hugged him. Then I realized I didn't even say yes:) So I just randomly said yes. He then put the ring on my finger.

It was perfect!! I always wondered what my engagement would be like and this was perfect! I love Cody!!

So that was most of the journal entry that I had written down about that day. Its so fun to look back on that day. I cant believe how fast I feel in love with Cody. On our first date I wrote in my journal about him saying, " I met the most amazing guy, I could marry him or someone just like him. Little did I know we would spend the rest of our lives together.

I'm really lucky to have Cody, he has brought out the best in me. He is my best friend! Saying yes to him was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Dj Everett

It officially, I no longer work at the salon DJ Everett!! I cant believe the day has come. When I got the job over 2 years ago I new that I did not want to be there forever. I came home many times in tears wanting to quit. There where a lot of not so pleasant things that I had to deal with but I will write down the positive things I want to remember.

For the first three months of working there I was able to assist my boss Jack who is an amazing stylist. He has been doing hair for over 30 years and a great educator. I was able to learn so much by working next to him. My style of cutting is more left brain artsy and go with the flow. He is very by the book and right brained. He will even measure a lot of his hair cuts to know exactly where to cut. This was great for me to learn how to be more precise and exact.

I also was able to work with some really neat people. When you are with someone every day you become really close. I will miss working with them.

I am now going to be doing hair from home. We were able to put a salon in the basement. Its perfect!! I'm super exited for this and I cant wait to see where this next chapter in life goes.

For my birthday this year Cody surprised me with a weekend get away to Florida! It was a much needed break for us. Most of our vacations consist of visiting family which we love to do. But it was nice to travel somewhere new and just be with each other.

The weekend consisted of staying with friends in Miami for a few day and then rented a car and drove to Naples and staying with his aunt and uncle for e few days. We spent lots of time on the beaches and seeing different sites.

We went to a very richy mall in Naples. It was full of stores like Prada and Gucci. The only thing we purchased was some ice cream, I'm sure that's the only thing we could afford. It was fun to see all the fancy clothes and then look at the prices. I look at maybe just buying a wallet, then looked at the price and it being $300.

Christmas Break

Christmas was so fun!! Filled with LOTS of food, games, presents, movies, caroling, laughing, sleeping in, not working., reading, cleaning, family. The only thing that could have made it better would be spending time with my family. I wish I was closer.

Cody surprised me with an early Christmas present to the Blue Man Group! I was so exited to go, I have always wanted to see them live. The show was awesome, they were very original. I do recommend to spend the extra money for the tickets near the front because they do a lot of things with the crowed.

Ugly Sweater Party

We went to a friends house last night for an "ugly sweater party". I had never been to one of these and didn't think it would be that funny to see everyone in ugly sweaters. But I was way wrong. It was SO FUN! It was hilarious to see all of the hideous sweaters that are made. Cody and I did not win the contest for the ugliest sweaters but we had some tough competition.

They also had a white elephant gift exchange. Cody and I had gone to a party last year where a guy brought a framed picture of himself, and it was so funny. We copied the idea this year and it was great! This funniest girl their opened it and about died when she saw what it was. She made a huge deal and said that the picture was going on her night stand:)

The night was full of a lot of games, and food. It fun to get together with friends. I am now on the lookout for ugly sweaters, because I am determined to win the contest next year:)

Thanksgiving!

I made it home for the holidays!! It was so fun. We were planning on taking off on Wednesday morning but Tuesday morning there was a blizzard predicted through the mountains. Our only hope of making it was to leave Tuesday. There was no way I could have left work, I had a packed day of hair tell 9:00 at night, luckily at 5:00 Cody called me and said if we left by 6 he thinks we could make it. I was able to move my last apts around cruise home, pack really fast, find someone to take care of YW activity. And we made it!! Perfect roads the hole way.

The week was great. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at my Grandparents house. It was pack with 60+ . We have grown out of my grandmas house so we now eat at the church:) It was so fun to see so much of my family!

We spent the rest of the weekend at my parents. Eating lots of food, playing basketball, getting Christmas trees and hanging out together. I love spending time with my family, they are the best, LOVE you guys!!

My new little nephew, Alexander Paul Berry. He is so precious! We went down to Grand Junction this weekend for his baby blessing. It was so fun to be with all of the family. The trip was short and sweet. We had a great time. Jen and Jackson were able to give Cody and I lots of advice on parenting.

New Callings

You gotta love new church callings. Sometimes they are what you want and you are super exited for the new task and other times you may grit you teeth and say yes. And you are relying on the Lord to help you out because you are not sure if you are cut out for it.

When Cody and I moved into our new ward I got called as the activity chairmen. I had no idea that meant I was over the whole activity's committee. I said yes to the calling somewhat exited and then asked who is the the president? Bishop laughed and said well that's you. "Oh No" is what I was thinking:) But with a few tears and lots of praying for help, I got released a month later and put into young women's. Little did I know the next day at church Cody got put into my old calling. So I'm feeling like I have both callings now:)

All will work out, and we are more than willing to serve in our church callings. And I know if we put our all into these calling we will be blessed.

Labor day weekend

Labor day weekend was great! All the Markham's came home for the long weekend which always means lots of food, games and late nights.

On Thursdays the girls played beauty shop. Kylie and Alyssa came over and we colored hair, waxed our faces and got some glitter toes. It was a lot of fun!

Friday we had a BBQ, Mindi made her famous ribs and corn on the cob. Once it got dark we went and roasted some smores. Saturday was wedding day, we had a family friend get married in Denver. It was beautiful!! The best part for me was they had an open bar, but it was all alcohol free. They were called mocktails. It was fun to be able to try all the fancy colored drinks:) This is always sad when this happens, but kind of funny too. At the ceremony during the wedding, they had two brides maids faint. It wasn't funny at the time but I get a pretty good chuckle thinking about it now.

Im always mad at myself for not taking enough pictures. But here are a few that I did get.

I love my Cody!! He is the nicest person I have ever met. One of the things I love about him is when he surprises me with gifts. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just today he brought me home a "surprise."He gets this cute smile on his face when I beg him to tell me what it is. He got me a key, its in the shape of a guitar. Not really quite sure why but it was cute non the less. He has also surprised me with carpet cleaners, jewelry, money for me to spend. My favorite surprise was on our first anniversary I thought he might have not gotten my anything because I was being sneaky and watching the debit card to see if I could catch him getting it:) but on our anniversary he gave me a beautiful necklace. He had bought it for his wife when he was 16 in Mexico. He told me he has a lot more things he bought his wife before we met but he will give them to me through out our life. He is precious.

Sorry this post may be boring for some of you. I have decided to blog for journaling purposes also. So there will be a lot more fluff and things that you might not really care about.

I have no clue where August has gone, summer too. We have been so busy with our jobs. Cody has been gone for days at a time in Wisconsin doing training for work. I always think I'm going to be so lonely but the time sure does fly by and it seems like he is home the next day.

I was super super busy at work. Double booked all day. Which I normally would love but with still being sick from the pregnancy it was tough. I have slowed down since school started and I am not complaining at all.

We just finished getting the salon put in the house:) It looks awesome!! I couldn't ask for anything more. So I am starting to advertise around town to get some business at home. I will post pics soon.

We have a new nephew who is here!!! Alexander Berry was born yestarday afternoon. Jennifer my sister is now a proud mother of 4 beautiful kids. I can not wait to meet this little guy. She shared lots of detail of the labor with me. She did this one all natural!! Which I have really wanted to do but I may be having some second thoughts. I am glad I had a sister to fill me in on all the pregnancy info I need to know.

This weekend my really good friend Tami came out to Colorado to visit. It was so fun!! We did a lot of shopping and were able to catch up on everything.

We have been friends for as long as I can remember. She is like family to me. We have watched each other grow up. I could say she knows me better than I know myself sometimes. Im lucky to have such a great friend.

I stayed up thinking last night, how time goes by so fast. Things are changing so much. I realized I graduated high school only 3 years ago. That makes me feel so young:) I have grown up so much sense that day.

After graduation I took off and did wild land firefighting for the summer, then went straight to hair school after that. I loved the college life and meeting so many new people. I dated a lot of boys and then Cody came into my life. He was perfect for me. We dated throughout the year and got married June of 2008, moved to Colorado in November. And started with our careers.

We bought our first house this summer and now we are going to be parents in March.

That is a lot of things to happen in 3 small years! I cant believe how fast my life is going by and things are changing. Im exited to see what the next 3 years are going to bring.

WE ARE HAVING BABY!!!

Cody and I are going to be parents!! We found out 6 weeks ago and I have been dying to tell the hole world. The first ultrasound apt was yesterday and the doctor gave me the go ahead to start sharing the good news. The baby is healthy and growing fast:) My first due date was the 9th of March but he chanced it to the 16th. (I think there should be a rule on not being aloud to do that).

I am so happy to finally be pregnant. It was a much longer process than we had anticipated. I figured the day that Cody and I both felt if was time to start our family and I went off birth control I would be pregnant. Thats not always how if works. And I know God sends you the little ones when its the right time and I will have to just be patient.

It feels good finally announce this and I will keep you updated on what life is like for us if I can find the energy which has all been going to the baby.
